06 Mazda 3, 70,000 km: General Issue Question(s)?
When I start my car it makes a slight squeak or squeal when it starts. Its done that for just over a week now. You turn the ignition, and the car starts, makes a screeching sound (its not very loud), but then the car runs as though it was new. It sounds perfect after that first second of starting it. I am just hitting the 3 month mark in terms of getting the oil changed, could that be the issue?
Question 2: I need to replace one of my front headlights, as it is burnt out. How much does this usually cost, and should I be doing this through the dealership or a car shop instead (The manual tells me that it can only be switched by a licensed mazda dealer), how much does this usually cost?
The squeak is likely your serpentine accessory belt, with time they glaze and may squeak, at 70 k km might be a time to replace it. Halogen bulb is around $ 20, give or take. Cant see why you would need a dealer to replace it, have the guys at an auto parts store look at it, if the bulb is hard to get at they will tell you. On many cars one side might be a 1 minute job, on the other side a 20 minute job because the battery or intake plumbing is in the way and needs to be removed out of the way.
